BADDESLEY (NORTH and SOUTH), parish, and hamlet in Boldre
Old English 'Baeddi's clearing', presumably a settlement in a stretch of ancient woodland. On this man's name, cf Coates (1988b). The two names are presumably quite separate in origin, even if linguistically the same, since the places are on opposite sides of Southampton.
